Biography
Allie Neff, at the age of 11, began playing the violin with her elementary orchestra. In the eighth grade, as she started to see playing the violin as more than a hobby, Allie started taking private violin lessons. As she delved further into her studies with Marie Maxfield and Abby Kage (her violin teachers, respectively), her love for the violin continued to grow. In her senior year of high school, she decided to put her violin studies above athletics (which she was very involved in at the time). Under the guidance of Abby Kage, Allie received a superior rating at the Solo and Ensemble Festival–a feat which she was unable to achieve in her previous attempts. With that extra boost of confidence, she decided that she wanted to continue her violin studies at a collegiate level.
Upon auditioning at the Horne School of Music, she earned a spot (as well as a scholarship) in their four-year program. As a freshman, she made it into their Chamber Orchestra–an advanced orchestra with limited seating. During her Freshman and Sophomore years (under the private instruction of Sara Gunnell and Jack Ashton, respectively), Allie made significant progress–which was noticed by her professors. In her Junior year, Allie was the concertmaster for the Chamber Orchestra, where she received the opportunity to perform the solo of a piece called “Stradivarius”, by Kurt Bestor, at one of his concerts. During her Senior year, she competed in the music program’s Concerto Competition, and won with her performance of Wieniawski’s Second Violin Concerto, Mvt III. She was then a featured soloist, accompanied by the Snow College Symphony Orchestra, during the following semester’s concerto night in 2018.
Allie has since graduated with her Bachelor’s of Music with an emphasis in Commercial Music and Violin Performance, and has launched her performing career. In the continued expansion of her industry networking, Allie has performed with artists including Jon Batiste, Olivia Rodrigo, Lindsey Stirling, and many others. Allie is also a founding member of String FX, a leading string ensemble with specialization in weddings and corporate events in Salt Lake City. In addition to her extensive classical repertoire, Allie also enjoys playing a variety of pop, rock, and jazz music. She joined String FX Electric, an electric string ensemble, in August 2022, which has increased her versatility and proficiency in these genres. Allie has continued her passion for performing in all environments and styles by expanding her repertoire and music gear.
